LT™ for Emerging Organizational Leaders

LT for Emerging Organizational Leaders, is a developmental training program for newly minted managers and those with a moderate level of management experience - it is also appropriate for those who are about to be promoted to management.

This program is an intensive leadership development program for these individuals within the organization assigned with management responsibilities. It is based in how managers communicate, coach, counsel and consult with their employees to produce the organization's results.

Three essential premises of this program are:

  1. Management is all about producing the desired results of the organization through the appropriate application of organizational resources.

  2. One of the most significant organizational resources available to management in terms of both impact and investment are its human resources.

  3. Managers produce results through the operational, technical and professional actions of others, not through their own actions in these capacities.

When managers begin to both understand and incorporate these premises in their interactions with others, they begin to act like managers - not before. It is a common scenario for managers to be selected for management based on their operational, technical and/or professional expertise. While managers may have operational, technical and/or professional responsibilities in which they directly produce results themselves, in these activities they are not acting in the capacity of management. What LT for Emerging Organizational Leaders emphasizes is this difference and how to operate to produce the organizations desired outcomes through the actions of others.

It could be said, correctly, that the focus of this program is developing the skills that are needed by all managers to get others to do what they need to do to get the results that are intended. The more effective and efficient a manager is at doing this the effective and efficient they will be as managers acting on behalf of the organizations in which they are leaders.

In addition to the skills necessary to be effective and efficient in working with others managers also need to be able to understand the strategy of the organization and translate this into the tactics necessary to produce the outcome for which they are tasked and responsible. This requires that they are able to think strategically and operate tactically - simultaneously. They must master the skills of strategic analysis, decision-making, planning, communication and evaluation (and adjustment). Integrating these skills with the basic understanding of what management and their role as a manager are is the forte of LT for Emerging Organizational Leaders.

We strongly recommend LT for Emerging Organizational Leaders in conjunction with LT - Personal Leadership as an ideal foundation for the developmental training of young managers and organizational leaders.
